Sambalpuri Saree is a traditional handwoven ikat saree where tie & dye yarn are used to produce designs on the fabrics. There are different types of Sambalpuri tie & dye sarees i.e. Cotton Saree, Silk Saree, Silk & Cotton mixed sarees and Sambalpuri woven with tie & dye design either on warp or weft. Sambalpuri Sarees are known for their traditional motifs like fish, conch shell, birds, animals, flowers, temple, portrait of mythology, sceneries which are developed in the saree with tie & dye technique and rudrakshya bead design in the boarder.Sambalpuri Sarees are mainly produced by the weavers of different districts of western Odisha like Bargarh, Sambalpur, Bolangir, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Sundergarh and Boudh districts.
